A vertical dive down a tower face
Most aerial footage is a slow hover, because most drones can only hover. An FPV drone is flown like a machine rather than framed like a camera: it dives, it chases, it threads gaps. The reason to put one in a film is that it returns shots the audience has not already seen a hundred times.
The challenge
Almost every property, tourism and brand film shot in Hong Kong carries the same aerial: a slow rise over the harbour at golden hour.
It is beautiful and it is interchangeable. Nothing in it belongs to the place being sold.
How we approached it
This reel collects the shots that could not be flown any other way: a vertical dive down a tower face, a pass at road speed alongside a car, a run down a mountain track behind a rider.
Flown across a year of Hong Kong locations: harbour, ridge line, coastline and city core.
